Dunwoody, you showed up in an amazing way to provide supplies to Augusta this week. Thanks to your efforts, we delivered over 4,000 water bottles and tarps to impacted areas. But the needs are significant! Augusta’s smaller neighbor to the west, McDuffie County, is also hurting and receiving far less support than greater Augusta. Travel through Thomson, GA, remains nearly impossible due to the lingering impacts of Hurricane Helene. We are partnering with New Thomson United Methodist Church, where county water service was shut down today. The church has already distributed its supplies to address critical needs in the surrounding community and needs more.
We are collecting critical supplies to deliver on Friday:
• Water
• Peanut butter
• Bread
• Canned fruit
• Crackers
• Granola bars
• Trail mix
• Applesauce
• Ensure (needed for large aging population)
We will be collecting in the parking lot of Kingswood Church, located at 4896 North Peachtree Road (near the corner of Tilly Mill) at the following times and will deliver these supplies and others purchased with your donations on Friday morning:
• Wednesday, 5–7:30 pm
• Thursday, 8–10 am
• Thursday 12–3 pm
• Thursday 5–7 pm
We are also receiving financial donations at https://kingswood.church/give. Click on “Give Online,” and then choose “Mission Appeals.” All funds will be used directly to purchase and transport needed supplies, and any excess will be directed to the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), which has resources on the ground in impacted areas.
